Workshop Assistant,
Designer & Maker
Working alongside Psychologist and Environment Development and policy MA graduate Claudia Naylor (workshop content creator), we produced a touring Mud Pie workshop traveling to four well known UK festivals in the summer of 2019.
The aim of the festival was to engage participants in a hands on learning environment to promote a better relationship to soil, a material that we often disregard due to associations with being dirty. To start we taught of the dangers of soil degradation and the importance that soil plays in our lives. We then continued onto making the mud pies, for some more light hearted muddy fun and flung our mud pies at the end with the giant slingshot.!
I made promotional material for the workshop (IG: @bemoreworm), co-ran the workshop and built the slingshot for the mud pies to be flung at the end of the session.
We sustainably sourced the materials which we provided for the workshop, using recycled food cartons as mud pie bowls and used re-usable sacks for carrying the mud, twigs, rocks and other organic matter.
We worked with a wide range of participants, from toddlers to environmental activists, to Aeroponics engineers. We learned a lot of interesting new information teaching alongside these varied individuals!
